You have found the courage to begin, and you want someone to walk with you. Maybe you are tired of feeling the crushing weight of anxiety or depression. Maybe you are the parent of a child with special needs, and you don't know what to do next, but you know you need to do something. Maybe you are finally admitting to yourself the truth about your sexuality, spirituality, or situation, and you are ready to grow into the person you are meant to be. I would be honored to join you on your journey.

As a therapist, I seek to help you meet your goals in ways that fit with your beliefs, values, and abilities. My passion is helping people live into their potential, whether that's through healing past trauma wounds with Brainspotting, learning new behaviors with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or building connection with your autistic child through Floortime.

You have taken the most important step by deciding to begin therapy. I started my own psychotherapy/counseling practice to provide a space for people like you to do this courageous work with the help of a caring, knowledgable therapist. If you are ready to get started on the journey, I invite you to contact me.

You’ve been the rescuer, the caregiver, the rock for years, and it’s finally taking its toll on you. You’ve learned to hide your fatigue and your pain really well. In fact, you’d be surprised if anyone knew how much you really struggle and how your thoughts race at night when the world is quiet. Words like “weak” or “not fit for duty” push you to burrow down further into your isolation. But what if there was a better way? What if you could have a place to sort through the depression and anxieties without being judged? What if finding peace wasn’t impossible?

Your courage is impressive! That same courage that has pushed you to be so strong for so many years is the same courage that’s going to drive you to peace and health. Together, we are going to work through this. You have finally found a place to exhale.

As a professional firefighter for almost 20 years, I am comfortable in the chaos. As an individual and marriage therapist, I am confident that we can find a solution that works for you. Maybe it’s a traumatic event that’s knocked you off kilter, or a lifetime of just feeling “off.” Maybe your marriage is in distress, and it feels like a lost cause at this point. I have been trained in a variety of evidence-based therapy methods, and tailor these to meet your particular needs. I’m happy to share them with you, but let’s be honest, that’s not why you’re here reading this. You’re far more impressed with someone who takes the time to see you, hear you, and sometimes just sit with you in the mess. This is what you can expect when you make your appointment with me. It takes a lot to trust someone with your story. Doesn’t it make sense to follow someone who knows the way out?

When you're ready to take that first step, contact me for a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation so we can begin sorting out what path is right for you.

Kristin Smith utilizes eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and other effective counseling techniques in her work with couples, first responders, and individuals with PTSD.
